Background

Every year June 8th is observed as World Ocean Day. Even though it is celebrated from 1992 onward. It was officially recognized by United Nations in late 2008.

The observance is made to honor, help protect, and conserve the world’s oceans.

Actions and Programs

There were many programs and events conducted on World Ocean Day. Some programs includes special events at aquariums and zoos, aquatic and beach clean-up, educational programs, art contests and exhibitions, film shows, sustainable sea food events, launching new campaigns and initiatives, etc.
