World Water Day


Every year March 22 is celebrated as World Water Day. The world water day is celebrated to spread the importance of fresh water and sustainable management of fresh water resources.

United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 22 as World Water Day through a resolution on 22 December 1992. The first World Water Day was celebrated on 22 March 1993.

Actions and Programs

There are many activities and programs are conducted on this day to spread the message of importance of fresh water and its management. Every year the celebration is based on a theme related to the current issues.

The programs and events are conducted at different levels by governments, government organizations, non-government organizations, companies, schools, colleges, other educational institutions, etc. to promote the theme as well as focus on critical current issues related to water. Events included in the World Water Day includes educational events, different campaigns, musical shows, arts exhibitions, different competitions, discussions, seminars, road shows, etc.
