Engineering is the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, and use of engines, machines, and structures.

Roles and responsibilities of an engineer differ according to the job, position, qualification, and organization. Since the branches of engineering are wide-spread, the role is also spread in many areas. The choice of branch and specialization you studied will also plays an important role in determining your role and responsibility in the company.

Educational Qualification Required

Educational qualification required to become an engineer is 12th pass. The stream includes PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) is compulsory for some branches of engineering. Now the engineering has extended its branches to many other fields so the stream and basic qualification has also different and depends on the engineering branch. Some entrance exams or colleges or branches required specific percentage in the basic qualification.


Skills and Knowledge Required

There are many skills required to become an efficient and successful engineer. Each course and branches of engineering requires skills and knowledge of the particular field. But some of the common skills required are analytical skills, reasoning and aptitude skills, interest in engineering, innovative ideas, creative thinking, complex problem solving, etc.


How to become an Engineer?

Now there are so many engineering colleges and seats are available in India so that one can easily get admission into an engineering college. But remember, the college you are studying and your performance has become important factors in getting good opportunity and career.

Mostly the admission to an engineering college is based on the entrance test conducted for 12th passed students. A good score in entrance test will give you an opportunity to get admission in to a good engineering college and course of your choice. Good knowledge in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry is a must for getting good score in entrance exams. Lateral entry schemes are available for specially qualified persons.

Getting admission into one of the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) should be your target if you want to become an engineer and to pursue career in that. You need to get appropriate rank in the entrance test conducted by the IITs to get admission into it.

    1. Engineering is a good career option for those who have interest in it. Courses like CCNA is not necessary to become a system administrator, but obtaining certification courses in IT will always benefit and gives an added advantage.
