Background

Migration is observed to be accelerate during the past 30 years. It may be due to the growing developmental, demographic and democratic disparities that existed between different world regions.

By considering the increasing number of migrants in the world, UN General Assembly on December 4, 2000 proclaimed December 18 as International Migrants Day.


Actions and Programs

The International Migrants Day is observed by governments, organizations, and individuals to raise the awareness about human rights and migrants fundamental freedom.
