Background

On December 2, 1977 UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The date of 29 November was chosen because on that day in 1947, the General Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.

In 2003, the day was observed on December 1.


Actions and Programs

The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is observed in some UN offices, councils, government bodies and organizations that have special interest in the issues encompassing the event. Media is used to spread the message.
